Breathe and flow
Yoga is a key adventure at all our camps. Our teachers are experienced and certified Yogi’s who will take you on a journey, leaving behind the stress of your daily responsibilities, and encouraging and supporting living in the present moment. You will feel grounded, full of positive energy and connected to your body and mind.
It is the perfect counterpart of the other activities during your stay. It will strengthen your muscles, support your sense of coordination and equip you with the practices needed to live in the moment. It will enrich your experience on many levels during your stay with us.
While our morning classes are active Ashtanga or Vinyasa lessons, in the evenings we enjoy more relaxing Yin Yoga and meditation sessions. Depending on our teacher’s focus, we put together a nurturing blend of restorative yoga and awareness-sharpening experiences. Whether you are a beginner or more experienced Yogi, you will find the perfect support for your level.

Yin Yoga
Yin practices at the end of your day will take your body and mind where they need to be. It is a slower and more meditative form of yoga, granting you the space to focus, turn inward, and let the mind settle. This ancient Chinese philosophy targets deep connective tissues, like your fascia and ligaments, as opposed to your big muscle groups. The postures are held longer than traditional yoga practices, and in effect have a different impact on your body and mind.
The goal here is not to move through postures freely, but to really dig deep, hold your postures, and access the deeper tissues. Our experience with this practice is that it loosens you up, making you feel less tight in places you didn’t even know were tight in the first place, and generally just fuels you with new and exciting energy!
Vinyasa Yoga
As a philosophy, Vinyasa flow recognises and adheres to the temporary nature of life. Nothing lasts forever. The practice seamlessly guides you from one posture to the other. Not one Vinyasa practice is the same, making them unique, fun and also challenging!
The breath plays a vital role during the practices. The goal will always be to synchronise flow with breath and connect. Vinyasa by definition means that we do not randomly move our bodies, but that we bring consciousness to each movement, at every moment. This variable characteristic of Vinyasa Yoga helps to develop a more balanced body and prevents injury sustained from repetitive motion.
Ashtanga Yoga
In Sanskrit, the ancient Indian language, the word “ashtanga” means eight limbs.
Ashtanga Yoga is the practice of these eight limbs. This practise is designed to truly experience the goal of yoga.
So, what are the eight limbs?
1. things you should do, or YAMAS
2. things you shouldn’t do, or NIYAMAS
3. practice of physical postures, ASANAS
4. concentration, or DHARANA
5. meditation, or DYANA
6. breathing techniques, PRANAYAMA
7. withdrawal of senses, or PRATYAHARA
8. transcendence, SAMADHI
The practice itself is something unique and truly grounding. It focuses on the same sequence of postures, allowing you to truly master them. Like Vinyasa, Ashtanga can be challenging, strength-building and dynamic. The practice puts a huge emphasis on breathing. In fact, the entire sequence is guided by, and based on your breath! As mentioned before, Ashtanga focuses on the eight limbs, and if not experienced before, you’re in for a treat.

Is yoga my adventure?
People tend to think that yoga is only cut out for the flexible ones, or the “spiritual” ones. We’re here to tell you that nothing can be further from the truth, yoga is for everyone! Male, female, young and old, all are highly encouraged to participate in the yoga classes, especially if you’ve never done it before!
Teachers will never force or push you through uncomfortable poses, every individual has a unique body, and it is important that you listen to your body. You move and practice to your abilities, and nothing more!
If you are new to yoga, you will quickly learn that flexibility plays an important part. Often people tend to shy away because they think they’re not flexible enough. Having said this, no beginner in any new endeavor has ever been able to do practice the way experienced practitioners do. Step outside of your comfort zone!
